Jenni-Mae Clissold.
Artist Profile
Jenni-Mae Clissold, was born in Subiaco WA 1974. Relocating to Sydney with her family in 1984 and attended school at Windsor, Jenni-May completed her HSC at Windsor High School in 1992. After moving to the city and years of saying that I would never return to the Hawkesbury I ended up buying a place at Lower Macdonald with my husband and became involved with the Ferry Artists. I fell in love with the Forgotten Valley. With the encouragement, support and tutoring through workshops with the Ferry Artists I rediscovered my love of colour and the creative process.
I now work mostly in oil and wax. I have been painting with this medium for 2 years, before this I dabbled a bit with water colour but was always searching for something else. Thanks to a workshop with Audrey Rhoda, my friends took me along to; I discovered the vibrant and tactile art of wax and oil paints. I love the layering of paint and wax. This medium gives me the freedom to experiment with colour and I am able to scribe into the wax. My work is naive and my inspiration comes mostly from my three beautiful children, their friends and mine.
